Public Relations Legend Mr P R Joshi Passed Away

Ahmedabad, November 21, 2012: Mr Prabodh R Joshi, the Public Relations legend passed away on 18th November,2012 after a brief illness. Born in 1953, Mr P R Joshi, is survived by his wife, Jayashree and son, Prasun.

Mr P R Joshi, Group President, Corporate HR and Corporate Communications, Zydus Cadila Healthcare Ltd held a masters degree in English literature from Gujarat University and has a post graduate diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from M.S University, Vadodara. Under Mr. Joshi's leadership, HR had emerged as a strategic partner contributing to Zydus' astounding growth for over a decade. From a turnover of Rs. 200 crore in 1995, the group posted a turnover of over Rs 5000 crore ($1 Billion) in FY 2011-12.

Spearheading a wide spectrum of initiatives from organisational transformation to change management, leadership building, employee engagement and global talent management, Mr. Joshi brought a creative flair to both HR and Corporate Communications at Zydus Cadila.

He was conferred the Indira Super Achiever Award and was also included in the HR Powerlist - a who's who directory of 40 distinguished, Senior HR professionals in India who are shaping the future of HR, at the International Asia Pacific HR conference held at Delhi in 2008. Under his leadership, the Zydus Cadila group had also received the 'Organisation with Innovative HR Practices' award at the World HRD Congress.

Mr P.R. Joshi was the Chairman of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI),Ahmedabad Chapter for two consecutive terms from 1985-86. He was the Vice President (West) and Chairman, Western Council (1995-96), of Public Relations Society of India.

Equally noteworthy were his contributions in the field of Corporate Communications. In March 2010, Mr. Joshi was conferred the 'Communicator of the Decade Award', by the Association of Business Communicators of India. In 2008, he was inducted into the 'Hall of Fame' by the Public Relations Council of India, for his contributions in the field of Communications. His contribution in the field of Corporate Communications fetched him the IMM Advertising and PR Man of the Year Award in 1996.

Making time for his literary pursuits, he was the editor of 'Uddesh' - a literary and cultural journal published every month in Gujarati. The journal was founded by his father and well known litterateur, the Late Dr. Ramanlal Joshi. A noted poet, Mr. Joshi had published two anthologies of his Gujarati poems, 'Paccho Ugaad Nikalyo aa' in 2012 and 'Mare koi naam aapvu baki chhe' published first in 1978 and re-printed in 2003.
